New CoderDojo Promo Postcard
The last time we made up postcards and flyers was in March 2014 for the last Maker Faire. With the next one coming up, it seemed like we were due for an update. Greg designed a couple of card concepts, ran them by our FaceBook group, and this was their overwhelming choice.
We’ll debut the new cards on September 19th.
Maker Faire is Sept 19th and 20th
Seattle Mini Maker Faire is going on September 19th and 20th at the Experience Music Project (EMP). We’re going to have a table there and we’re looking into whether we can get a discount code for our members.
It’s less than 3/4 of a mile from Wainwright to EMP and there are lunch options near each. Plus parking at some of the garages near Dojo are $2.44 for the whole day. You can leave your car and walk or Uber over. Why not plan a day of geekery?
Volunteer for Maker Faire
We need volunteers to help run our demos, hand out postcards and stickers, and talk to people about what we do. Yes, your teen can volunteer. Parents who don’t program can volunteer. Like last year, we want to have 2-3 planned volunteers at the table at any given time, plus Dojo families and mentors who are visiting the faire on their own are welcome to come by and hang out for a bit.
We’ll have 3 passes and they’ll be traded among volunteers as they come in to relieve each other.
Each 4.5-5 hour shift will include 1 hour to wander the Faire and grab a snack.
We need the following shifts covered:
- Saturday, September 19: 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Morning)
- Saturday, September 19: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Swing)
- Saturday, September 19: 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Evening)
- Sunday, September 20: 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Morning)
- Sunday, September 20: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Swing)
- Sunday, September 20: 1:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Evening)
Please email Greg at info@seattlecoderdojo.com with the times you’re available to volunteer. Also, if someone can loan us a monitor or HDTV for the event, it would be much appreciated.
