We’ve been listening to you
For people who miss the weekly newsletter, it’s now archived on the Seattle CoderDojo site. Just look in the “Latest Announcements” box on the right side of any page.
More importantly we’ve got a new “Links from Past Dojos” page. You’ll find links related to the activities at both the Eastside and Westside this past Saturday. If you’re on the site and looking for it, you’ll find it in the “Learning Links” section at the top of any page.
Details on GeekGirlCon
GeekGirlCon is going on at the Washington State Convention Center the weekend of October 11 & 12. You can find out more at GeekGirlCon.com. We’re going to have a table in the Connections room.
We’ll have two passes we can share between the volunteers who will staff the table from 10-5 each day. We’re looking for people who can put in a 4-8 hour shift, preferably female. Those are the people who will get the free passes.
WHAT IF WE CAN’T COMMIT TO A LONG SHIFT?: You can still volunteer. Come hang out at the table for a half hour, an hour, even longer. Be proof that we’re awesome because we have awesome people like you involved. We just can’t get you a free pass (I can however ask about a discount code).
Been a darn tough week
Microsoft let approximately 750 people go on Thursday. To use a writerly term, the team I’m on was “cleaved in twain.” I’m trying to help my former co-workers find new roles, trying to help a friend who got knocked out in the prior round, trying to help in general.
CoderDojo is a community. So whether you’re looking for work, you’re looking for talent, or you know of some good resources, email me at info@SeattleCoderDojo.com and let me know. I’ll try to connect people as much as I can.
