Did we mention t-shirts?
There was an issue with the link in the last newsletter. It’s fixed. If you’ve been contemplating showing your support with a shirt, buy a shirt today. $2 from every sale benefits Seattle CoderDojo.
Did we mention Minecraft?
We got our beta license for the JavaScript-based Minecraft modding courseware. Now we need a volunteer who wants to teach the course so we can give them the first crack at taking it. And here’s the cool part… we want a kid to teach it. If you are 13 or older, you are a regular attendee, and you want to be our first Minecraft Modding Mentor, have your mom or dad email Greg with one paragraph about why you want to (and should be) our first Minecraft Modding Mentor. The Organizing and Curriculum committee members will evaluate the paragraphs and announce our decision at the October 25th dojo.
This is YOUR Dojo: Leveling up our volunteer program
Greg’s name is on the Seattle CoderDojo door for tax purposes, but make no mistake that the people to thank for this are the volunteers (and sponsors) who make it possible to put on these events.
Lindsay Watt, from our Outreach committee, has stepped up to take on the title of “Volunteer Wrangler” and is putting in some deep thought on ways to better onboard volunteers, train volunteers, communicate with and utilize volunteers, and show our gratitude to volunteers. If you have any thoughts on the topic, drop him a line.
