Tix for January 24th Available Now
Remember, this is the day we’ll be playing with robots in the hallway. Some of the kids who won Dash robots at Hour of Code will bring theirs and Greg’s bringing his Spheero. We’ll set up some obstacles and see who can navigate them.
Regular rooms available too. Get Tix Here
January 17th is sold out with a couple of dozen kids on the waiting list. We’ll do a cull for duplicates soon and some people do cancel. The process is that we release seats to the waiting list manually (no automated system, sorry) and you have 16 hours to claim them. We try to do the releases in the mornings.
Minecraft
The modding class will start on Feb 21 and run through the end of March. It is a sequential class and you should expect to come every Saturday.
Requirements: A laptop capable of running Minecraft and a Mojang Account so you can log into Minecraft. And familiarity with the basics of JavaScript. If you have a child in the Scratch room who has been wanting to take this class, get them through CrunchMonster or Khan Academy JavaScript by the time the class starts. And they can get help with those courses in… the JavaScript room.
The lottery for seats is going to start taking entries on the 17th. We’ll provide instructions at Dojo and then in this newsletter next week. Entering early will not alter your odds.
We’re trying to raise some money to cover A/V equipment for recording the classes and making them available online for all members. If you’d like to contribute to the A/V equipment fund, please go to our donation page
Python & Linux System Administration
Mentor Chris is still working on his Python Pod. We forgot to link his name in the last email. And new is mentor Hawey’s plan to teach kids how to be sysadmins. Because all us coders would be lost without sysadmins.
If you want to help with either class, mail Chris or mail Hawey.
That’s all for this week… See ya Saturday.
