Learn JavaScript Through Minecraft Modding
This is a 6-week workshop and tickets are good for all six weeks. Tickets are available now: GET TICKETS HERE
This workshop is intended for beginners. We will be using Minecraft as an environment for teaching JavaScript and we will start with the *basics*. Over the six weeks we will go from installing the modding environment and a simple “Hello World” to creating a pyramid made out of pigs… and more.
Requirements are simple:
1: Typing. We’re not expecting your child to do 60 words per minute, but if they hunt and peck at 3 words per minute, they’ll fall behind and get frustrated. If they need practice, the BBC has a great typing tutor program called Dance Mat Typing, which teaches typing like it’s a Dance Dance Revolution game.
2: Minecraft. Either a copy of the PC/Mac/Linux version of Minecraft or at least a free Mojang account.
3: Laptop. You’ll need a laptop with WiFi and the ability to install software on it. You’ll need the latest version of Oracle’s Java installed.
