Why no Scratch Room split for the 30th? The split on the 23rd is a test and it hasn’t even happened yet. Rather than commit to doing something again before the reviews on the first try are in, we decided to wait. On the 23rd, we’ll discuss how the split went (and would love your feedback) and will hopefully have a decision on whether or not to do it again in time for February 6th tickets.

Minecraft class may be delayed

Because the folks who ran the project that build the CanaryMod server chose to give up last year, the server has been in decline. Walter Higgins has been focusing on Spigot as the server of choice for ScriptCraft as he continues to improve and update it. On top of that, Spigot has a huge modding community, lots of packaged mods, supports Forge, and is one of the most widely used servers out there, so kids would get way more out of using it after the class ends. We really need to start using Spigot in the class.

But because we also teach stuff like diving into the JavaDocs to pull out methods and add more power to your ScriptCraft mods, updating the class and porting our mods for Spigot is going to take more time than Greg can make available between now and March.

If someone would like to take on revamping the Minecraft modding class for Spigot and take on teaching it in March, Greg can make some time to advise you.
