HELP YOUR KID LEARN TO CODE… FOR FREE!
Seattle CoderDojo is a free coding club for kids, powered by volunteers, donors, and sponsors. We help kids build projects and work through online tutorials.
WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK?
Beginners & Developers:
We’ll be mixing the Beginner and Developer rooms (since they’re both more one-on-one mentoring) so we can make room for the 3D Design class this week.
Scratch Room:
Scratch is a programming tool that lets kids create programs by combining different pieces that do things. No typing is required, no special software is needed, and after they’ve done a couple of the Hour of Code tutorials, they’ll be able to jump into this pretty easily. It does require Scratch so iPads and Android tablets won’t work.
We’re going double-sized and trying a “Pick Your Own Project” model where kids will get to choose from a number of interesting projects at various levels, or work on a project they’ve brought with them.
SPECIAL: 3D Design Workshop:
The teens who run the Steam 3D Hackathon will take over a room this week for a special 3D Design Workshop. Kids will learn the basics of three-dimensional design, work on creating a 3D design of their own, and learn about a fun hackathon coming up in June where teams of teens take on real-world problems by developing 3D printed solutions.
