LOTS of tickets now available for next Saturday (May 9)!
Seats Available for the Android Apps Workshop
The tickets for the Android Apps with JavaScript workshop are also available.
This will run May 2, 9, 16, and 30th (no Dojo on the 23rd). You can register once for the whole 4 weeks, including parent tickets and tickets for siblings participating in other rooms.
We’ll spend three weeks making some simple apps for Android using entirely online tools (no installs required, can be done on loaners), then on our 4th week, kids can show off what they’ve made and we’ll talk about how to *make money* from your apps, plus have a speaker from the Amazon Appstore talk about their submission process.
The apps will be built using simple JavaScript and HTML5. If your child can build a simple web site, they can build a phone app. Please note, the final results will be apps your child can submit to the Amazon Appstore or Google Play.
We’ll livestream the class on the new Seattle CoderDojo YouTube Channel (thanks to mentor Chris for helping us set that up) and post class materials here on the site. If you plan to attend remotely during the livestream, please sign up for a remote ticket so we can try to make sure we have enough mentors monitoring the online chat. If you plan to watch the videos at another time, no ticket is necessary, but you’ll have to watch the site or Facebook group for when we post materials as you won’t get any emails about it.
Kids will need accounts on: Cloud9, GitHub, and Adobe’s PhoneGap Build service.

What about Python?
Mentor Chris tells us he loved teaching this class so much he wants to do more. We don’t have any more classrooms, so we’re giving him a conference room. There’ll be room for maybe 10-12 kids on site plus he’ll continue to livestream. He needs a couple of weeks to evaluate the good and the bad of this last workshop, then plan some new content. Watch the newsletter and Facebook group for announcements.
