We’ve been trying to come up with something more informative than our meetup.com site and without all the confusion of their RSVP system. So we’re moving people off Meetup… to here. If you want to make sure you get all the CoderDojo news, make sure you sign up for the mailing list using the form over to the right and down a bit.
Why not Meetup? Because we can’t control our presentation the way we’d like, because their RSVPs don’t work for a system where we have to count parents and children separately, because they keep on doing new things that demonstrate to us their concern is making more money and creating more lock-in rather than providing value for the monthly fee we pay. In our opinion, Meetup is getting worse, not better, and we need to make this break.
We’re weaving together three different tools to do this. WordPress (self-hosted with multiple plug-ins), EventBrite, and MailChimp.
This is our “starter site” and we hope to improve it as we discover good, responsive, secure, mobile friendly plugins that allow us to offer more services to our members.
We’ve exported a list of all the people who got CoderDojo tickets via EventBrite through 9/1 as a starter for our MailChimp announcement list. Please feel free to unsubscribe if you don’t want the announcements. If you’re coming over from Meetup.com and haven’t been to an event yet, there are two ways to get on the mailing list. Use the mailing list sign-up in the lower right of this page OR sign up for a ticket to an event and we’ll import your address from EventBrite within a week or two.
Thanks!
