Who wants to play a game????

If you’re just here to play and don’t want to mess with downloads, play the game directly from it’s Github repository.

This session is where we will take the art we made and put it in a game.

You can download the game from my Github repository. Just visit the Feed the Dog repository, click the “Clone or Download” button, and then click “Download Zip.”

Cap of the Download Zip dialogue

Unzip the contents into a folder, doubleclick on index.html to launch it in a browser and it will play on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. There’s an odd formatting bug in IE 11, but the game still plays fine.

We’ll go over the stuff in the HowToEditTheGame.txt file in that folder and discuss the concept of a game loop briefly. Most of the session will be spent helping the kids hack the game and have fun changing the art or gameplay.

Here’s the “game loop” diagram we went over in the workshop.
